Global Movement for Active Ageing
The Global Movement for Active Ageing (GMAA) is a project conceived by the World Health Organization (WHO) and launched in 1999 – International Year of Older Persons – on the occasion of the Global Embrace walking. An open and integrated network, with the aim of fomenting policies and practices which favour Active Ageing, offering ideas for action, programmes and projects. The GMAA messages celebrate the International Year of Older Persons and point out the need to inaugurate 'a society for all ages'.
